Even though we’re pretty well-read as it is (Patti’s been working in skincare for over 25 years!), there’s still so much to learn and discover when it comes to the genetic make-up of our skin.
We all know about the harmful effects of UVA and UVB rays on the epidermis (that’s why we have our Rejuvenating Day Lotion SPF 30), but it hasn’t always been clear why. Now, according to a new study from The Journal of Investigative Dermatology, a link has been found between UVA and UVB rays and the protein progerin.
While progerin has been associated with wrinkles and other signs of aging in the past, this is the first official study documenting a relationship between the protein and the harmful rays.
Still further studying needs to be completed for more concrete details, but this discovery is good first step toward being able to fully understand why wrinkles occur.
