Ask Patti - A Natural Way to Ageless Beauty

Sun Spots

Q: Patti, I have terrible sun spots. What can I use to lighten them?

A:  I am not a dermatologist or a scientist.  There are many great laser treatments designed to address sun damaged skin.  However, these treatments are expensive and require multiple visits to your dermatologist.  Hydroquinone, is a prescription drug that is specifically designed to remove age spots.  However this drug is very controversial because it removes the dark spots by KILLING the cells.  As a result, it is banned in Japan and the US FDA is considering banning it as well.

I was traveling through Asia and through my family met a Singaporean-based ingredient supplier.  I told him that I was looking for a natural and safe ingredient that provided the same benefits of hydroquinone.  He sent me the Songyi Mushroom extract which is used in Asia as a natural and safe skin lightener.  In fact, it is the active ingredient in India’s best-selling skin lightening bar soap.  We put the ingredient in high dosage in our Reviving Cleanser.  Within two weeks the dark spot on my cheek faded away!  We also put the ingredient into our Renormalizing Serum for additional brightening.
