Day Trip to Cold Spring, NY

Friday, July 26, 2013 4:00:45 AM America/New_York

Looking for a quick escape from the pushy, sweaty sidewalks of NYC? A beautiful trip to Cold Spring, a small village in southeastern NY state, is just a quick train ride away!

Take the MTA North and be sure to sit on the left side to enjoy breathtaking views of the Hudson.

The train lets you off at the foot of Main Street, home to great local eateries and fresh shops. I love Archipelago, a combination of antiques and kitschy (but cool) gifts. Ask for David the owner and tell him that Patti says hi!

MoMA’s ‘Rain Room’

Friday, June 21, 2013 4:00:23 AM America/New_York

Have you ever been stuck in a storm and wished you could turn it off? Or perhaps delay the rain until you were safely inside? If you live in New York, I’m positive you have.

The new Rain Room exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art (part of EXPO 1: New York) gives visitors that power, with a field of falling water that pauses wherever a human body is detected.

The exhibit is a great comment on the interaction of urban development and the natural world, as well as the steps we can take through technology to create a more sustainable environment. It’s also a little fun to pretend you’re Storm from X-men.

Views From The 27th Floor

Midtown East doesn’t have the most glamorous architecture in New York City, but it sure does looks pretty from our high-rise window-paned office.

Today we took a break from skincare to enjoy a beauty of a different kind. See the skyline photos above and below!

New York streets can be a dangerous place, even if you’re not walking on them. There are approximately 5,000 taxi-related injuries each year, so it never hurts to be secure. Next time you’re in a cab, sit back, buckle up, and enjoy the bumpy ride safely.
