The Importance of Clean Skin

Skin CareOur CEO and founder, Patti Pao, has been a beauty industry innovator, veteran and visionary for 25+ years—so she knows a thing or two about beauty and skincare. Making sure your skin is sufficiently clean before applying your makeup/skincare products and before going to sleep plays a key role in healthy, glowing, and younger-looking skin. As Patti always says, “It’s so easy to get caught up with all these beauty products that sometimes we forget the simple things, like rinsing our face clean with water. Remember, you need a clean canvas to start painting.”

Depending on how you wash your face, your cleansing habits could be causing dry skin, irritation and breakouts. Here are the top dermatologist-approved tips for face washing:

  1. Restorsea Reviving CleanserUse a gentle cleanser. Cleansing should remove dirt, germs and excess oil, but anything too harsh will strip away moisture and irritate healthy cells. Our Restorsea Reviving Cleanser is gentle and sulfate free!
  2. Make sure you wash away makeup, sunscreen and sweat before you sleep. Patti states, “Most beauty products aren’t made for overnight wear and will wreak havoc if left on too long: mascara will dry out your lashes, eyeliner will smudge your under-eyes, and blush will clog your pores. Sleep should be restful, so be good to your skin, and give your face a break!”
  3. Stick to lukewarm water. Water that is too hot can overly dry out your skin.
  4. If you must exfoliate, don’t overdo it: once or twice a week is the max. If you use Restorsea daily, you might be able to skip additional exfoliation as our unique enzyme complex, Vibransea™, gently exfoliates dead skin cells.
  5. Use a clean cloth to pat your face dry... but not too dry. Leaving some droplets on the skin helps seal in the moisture when applying moisturizer.
  6. Be gentle to your eyes. The skin around this area is highly delicate so make sure not to scrub.

Always Apply Product to Clean Skin!

Monday, August 12, 2013 12:00:29 PM America/New_York

Q: Patti, is it necessary to wash with a cleanser in the morning if I've already washed thoroughly the night before?

A:  Yes.  You MUST wash your face thoroughly in the morning and at night.  While you sleep skin regenerates itself shedding skin cells as part of the process.  You want to wash off the debris and start with clean, glowing skin in the AM.

Best Products for Oily Skin?

Tuesday, July 2, 2013 12:00:55 PM America/New_York

Q: Patti, I have extremely oily skin. Which product from your line would be best for my aging skin?

A: I have oily skin as well and suffer from cystic acne.  As a result, all of our products are clinically tested to be hypoallergenic and not clog pores.  I would start with our cleanser, follow up with our serum and then in the day, apply the Day Cream and/or Day Lotion SPF and at night, apply our night cream.

Going to sleep with your makeup on risks damages to your pillow cases, and, more importantly, your skin!
