Honeysuckle: What Does It Do?

Thursday, November 21, 2013 7:00:06 AM America/New_York

It's no doubt that you've heard of our proprietary active ingredient, Aquabeautine XL®, if you've visited the Restorsea website. But if you peruse through the ingredients list of our Rejuvenating Day Lotion SPF 30, you might be wondering what honeysuckle does.

The two included honeysuckle ingredients--lonicera caprifolium and lonicera japonica--are from Italy and Japan, respectively, and produce fragrant, cream-colored flowers. Extracts of these flowers are used for their anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and calming properties. Because we are proud to be an all-natural product sans parabens, silicone, PEGs, phthalates, or mineral oil, using honeysuckle allows us to preserve our products without using unsafe chemicals

Some consumers may be worried that a preservative equates to a paraben, but third-party independent lab tests for parabens show negative results. There were no detectable traces of any parabens like methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben. The honeysuckle extract is a blend of hundreds of cooperating phytochemicals while parabens are synthetic copies of one particular phytochemical (that happens to be found in nature), which is why the lonicera japonica extract is known to be paraben-free.
