Experts at the University of Alabama at Birmingham have recently indicated that taking actions to slow down the aging process can help boost self-esteem. Specifically, the scientists credit using sunscreen daily and applying retinol creams and makeup with a SPF of 30+ as the steps most influential for increased self-confidence.
Why? Chronic exposure to UVA and UVB rays is one of the factors most responsible for speeding up the aging process. Consistently wearing sunscreen and SPF-infused cosmetics (try Restorsea’s Rejuvenating Day Lotion SPF 30) to minimize the risks of exposure and using topical creams to combat existing signs of aging can not only improve your appearance, but also provide a sense of accountability for taking preemptive action.
The experts caution against unrealistic expectations; aging is natural, after all, and the process can’t be stopped! Still, they do encourage behaviors that will promote better skin down the road, and invite you to enjoy the confidence that comes with prioritizing your health.

Apparently, not enough. A recent study indicates that physicians rarely educate their patients on adequate sunscreen use and proper sun-protective behaviors, despite its importance year-round.
According to the researchers, an estimated 20 billion patient visits occurred nationwide and at only 0.07% did physicians mention sunscreen. Dermatologists addressed the topic most, but still only at a minimal 1.6% of visits. Perhaps most surprising, children were informed about sun protection the least.
The takeaway? If you’re concerned about sun safety, don’t assume your doctor can read your mind. Take the initiative – voice your concerns at your next appointment. Oh, and don’t forget your sunscreen! Save yourself a step and use a moisturizer that contains SPF, like our Rejuvenating Day Lotion SPF 30.

Q: If I put sunscreen over the Restorsea product, will that kill the enzyme in the same way it did when you put sunscreen into the cream? I’m sorry to be stuck on my sunscreen! My dermatologist has beat into my head that I need to wear it and so now I’m curious.
A: Two separate thoughts. We “killed” the enzyme with the SPF because we used zinc oxide which emitted an electrical charge which killed the enzyme (ARGH!). We then coated the zinc oxide so that its charge was contained. Now the zinc oxide lives very harmoniously with our enzyme in the Rejuvenating Day Lotion SPF 30.
The second piece is YES. YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST WEAR SUNSCREEN EVERY DAY to avoid getting skin cancer and secondarily to reduce the appearance of aging. It is preferable that you wear a sunscreen with an SPF 30 and that provides broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) protection.

No longer are the days where you have to spend time waiting to apply your sunscreen after your moisturizer dries.
Our new Rejuvenating Day Lotion SPF 30 is a two-in-one product that has the hydrating and anti-aging properties of our successfully proven Rejuvenating Day Cream with the added protection of 20% zinc oxide.
The result? A naturally derived and lightweight lotion that protects your skin against both UVA and UVB rays which contribute to the signs of aging, and worse, skin cancer. And since it contains our patent pending Vibransea™ complex, the Rejuvenating Day Lotion SPF 30 works to brighten skin, reduce age spots and improve skin elasticity.
When you think about it, the time saved is perhaps the least of the benefits.
