Cold sores are the biggest faux pas of skincare today (well, perhaps after unhandled blemishes), and occur usually from a mixture of the herpes simplex virus Type 1 and the three S’s: stress, sickness and sun exposure.
However, according to the Huffington Post, there are a few treatments you can do to help minimize these outbreaks.
These range from cortisone injections, a super-fast, last minute shot that will bring down inflammation, to Abreva, an over-the-counter medication that reduces the size and pain of cold sores.
